In 1999, when fast fashion was at its peak, Claudia Lanius decided to do things differently! Guided by her clear vision: “LOVE FASHION / THINK ORGANIC / BE RESPONSIBLE,” she set out to prove that style and responsibility are not opposites, but opportunities. What began as a pioneering idea more than two decades ago has since grown into LANIUS, a label that has become synonymous with timeless design, organic materials and authentic values.
Today, Claudia is joined by Annabelle Homann, her daughter and the brand’s Managing Director, who brings the next generation’s perspective to the table. Together, they navigate the challenges of staying true to their principles in an industry that still often prioritises speed and low prices over long-term responsibility. From making difficult sourcing decisions to building long-standing partnerships with suppliers, LANIUS continues to show what it means to put integrity first.
In July, Susanne Diener, our Global Standard Regional Representative in Germany, Austria and Switzerland met with Claudia and Annabelle at the LANIUS Headquarter in Cologne to have a chat about personal motivations, the daily reality of sustainable fashion, and the role that GOTS certification plays in providing structure, trust and transparency. The conversation is honest, inspiring and forward-looking and touches on everything from the evolution of consumer behaviour to the responsibilities that come with leading change in fashion.
