When MAZINE began its story back in 1998 in Mülheim an der Ruhr, the region already carried a rich legacy of change. For over two centuries, the Ruhr area has been a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and innovation. A place where people from all over the world came together to build something new. Out of this unique mix of diversity and creativity, MAZINE was born and that spirit still runs through the brand today.
From day one, the brand has been about function, authenticity, and adaptability. Life is fast-paced, and everyone moves between work, family and personal style every day. We make choices every day for our daily life. MAZINE understands this rhythm and designs street and outerwear that fits effortlessly into real lives.
Even as trends have come and gone, the brand’s core has remained steady: making clothing for people who walk their own path, with certified materials, fair production, and honest prices. What started in 1998 as a small idea has become a long journey of evolution and integrity, one that continues today with the same energy and purpose.
“Every market has its own relationship to sustainability, its own price sensitivity, its own aesthetic preferences,” explains Henry Canton, Mazine’s brand ambassador. “The brand maintains a price range from €50 to €250,” he goes on, “making conscious consumption affordable for the people who are actually driving cultural change.”

MAZINE believes that trust is stronger than contracts which is the reason behind why they’ve worked with the same suppliers for years. Every season, the brand pushes further by improving materials & designs, exploring new product categories and enhancing working conditions for everyone involved along this way.
“When customers entrust us with their money,” managing director Jina Oh explains, “they deserve to know where it goes. Also, we’re developing future scenarios and considering industry disruptions before they occur. Climate regulation forcing 90% emissions cuts? Gen Alpha rejecting ownership models? AI-driven fashion? We plan ahead.”
Mazine’s roadmap includes material innovation partnerships, urban regeneration projects, local and Europe-wide recycling schemes “Our goal is honesty,” says Oh. “In an industry built on aspiration and illusion, that’s perhaps the most radical position of all.”
The brand is proudly certified to GOTS, meeting strict environmental and social standards. Most collections also ensure the genuine use of recycled fibres. Every piece is vegan, entirely free of animal-derived components, and produced in facilities, which guarantee living wages and high international labour standards.
MAZINE takes the idea of textile “waste” and flips it on its head. Old clothes, fabric scraps, and even plastic bottles can become the raw materials for new designs according to the motto of fashion made from what others throw away. Many pieces are crafted from recycled polyester fibers, always verified through GRS certification to avoid greenwashing and ensure real transparency.
Every year, over 92 million tons of textile waste end up in landfills. The problem is clear: overproduction, overconsumption and a throwaway mindset. MAZINE stands for the opposite! Designs built to last, responsible and safe working conditions for every garment maker, and materials that respect the planet.
Their team is honest about the brand’s journey: not everything is perfect, but better. Progress matters! Each day brings new steps toward more responsible materials, greater transparency and deeper sustainability. Since 1998, MAZINE’s fashion and identity has evolved with the times — but its heart has never changed. From the Ruhr to the world, the brand continues to stand for innovation, fairness, and lasting style that looks forward without forgetting where it came from.
